Roman Aqueduct – Caesarea - Wind and Sand
Drypoint Engraving
This engraving of the ancient Roman aquaduct that once watered the vast Roman city in the Sharon plain of Israel was produced one hot, windswept day on the beach at Caeserea. The artist, excited by the forceful experience of wind and sand on the waters edge of the Mediterranean Sea, sought to show the effects of these conditions in the structure of this 2-3 kilometer long aquaduct (originally some 21 kilometers long). |
