First Thaw - Washington Pass

Created during a light snow shower at over 4000 metres, this being the highest point of the Washington Pass. The pass is closed throughout every winter and had just been opened by snow-ploughs a few days before. The artist was particularly struck by the freshness of the air and the vastness of the Rocky Mountain range.
